REDISTRICTING MD 306
As you are well aware we are proposing to redistrict MD 306 and wish to herewith send the proposal for your consideration at the District Convention.
Furthermore, I have also attached history of redistricting in Sri Lanka and need for redistricting document compiled by PIP Mahendra Amarasuriya for your better understanding.
In order to get this proposal approved at the district convention you will be expected to explain in simple terms why we need to redistrict MD 306.
According to the constitution of LCI, districts are encouraged to redistrict when it becomes too large to be administered effectively. Further requirement is that each new sub district must have at least 35 clubs with 1250 members.
As you are aware presently most district governors and cabinet officers travel long distances to visit clubs or service projects spending unproductive time on the road.
In addition, as we have more than 17,900 members in 650 clubs, present districts have more than 100 clubs each. Number of members exceed 3000 in some of these districts. Therefore, we can understand considering the International Constitution, it is now time to redistrict MD 306.
After many discussions with Lion Leaders of each subdistrict we wish to finally propose dividing the multiple into 12 Subdistricts. The proposal includes the distinctive boundaries proposed for efficient district management with the proposed club list.
Please kindly go through the attachments and ensure our proposal is presented positively at the district convention as redistricting is a timely need considering the future of Lionism in Sri Lanka.
